Junebug Privacy Policy
EFFECTIVE DATE: AUGUST 20, 2026
Playtime Planning LLC dba Junebug (“Junebug,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard information when you use the Junebug mobile application and related services (collectively, the “Platform”). Please read this policy carefully. By accessing or using the Platform, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy.
Junebug is a two-sided network that connects parents and caregivers (“Users”) with children’s activity providers (“Providers”). The Platform is intended solely for use by adults (18 years of age or older). Children under the age of 18 are not permitted to create accounts or use the Platform.
1. Information We Collect
A. Information Users Provide
When you register for and use the Platform as a User, we may collect:
- Name, email address, phone number, password (stored only in hashed form), and voluntary profile image.
- Home address, city, state, ZIP code, and an associated home-location coordinate used for nearby and distance-based features.
- Information you voluntarily provide about your children, including first name, date of birth, and interests.
- Reviews, comments, saved programs, and other content or preferences you submit through the Platform.
- Communications and messages you send to our support or business teams.
B. Information About Children
Junebug does not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 18. Information about children (such as name, date of birth, and interests) is collected from the User to provide activity recommendations. We do not share children’s personal information with third parties for their own marketing purposes and process all such data consistent with applicable children’s privacy laws, including the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act and, to the extent applicable and in effect, the California Age-Appropriate Design Code Act. Children do not create accounts or use the Platform.
C. Provider Information
For activity providers listed on the Platform, we may collect information from the following categories of sources: providers’ own public websites and business listings; government and business registries; third-party mapping and business-information APIs, including the Google Places API; and information providers submit to us directly. The categories of information collected include:
- Business name, business contact and location information — address, phone number, and website.
- Activity descriptions, schedules, and pricing.
- Other publicly available marketing content.
Provider account holders may also submit business contact and location information, photos, verification documents, and billing-related identifiers used to administer subscriptions. Full payment-card numbers, expiration dates, and security codes are held by Stripe and are not stored by Junebug. Providers have the right to opt out of being featured on the Platform and to request deletion of their information by contacting us at support@junebugfamily.com. We will process opt-out and removal requests within 10 business days.
D. Automatically Collected Information
When you use the Platform we may automatically collect:
- Device and technical information, such as device type, operating system, app version, push-notification token and platform, and crash diagnostics.
- Log and security data, including IP address and browser user agent recorded for security, fraud prevention, provider verification, and operational purposes, as well as limited server logs for failed requests. We do not use IP addresses to infer your location or share them with analytics or advertising vendors.
- Location information (with your permission, device-provided location when you use a location feature, such as tapping the “current location” button; general location you provide by entering a ZIP code or selecting a location on a map; or a home location you choose to save). We do not derive your location from your IP address, collect device location in the background, or knowingly collect device location directly from children. For Sponsored placement, we use only a coarse geographic area to determine the Sponsored listings shown to you.
- Usage data (features used, searches performed, content viewed, clicks and interactions).
- Cookies, pixel tags, and similar tracking technologies (see Section 6 below).
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
- To create and manage your account and provide our services.
- To surface personalized activity recommendations based on your children’s ages, interests, and your location.
- To send you promotional emails, push notifications, in-app messages, and other marketing communications about activities, deals, and features (you may opt out at any time — see Section 8).
- To determine eligibility for and display relevant paid placements using a coarse geographic area, and to apply paid ranking or placement benefits associated with Growth, Premium, and Boost features.
- To improve, personalize, and optimize the Platform and our services.
- To respond to your comments, questions, and customer support requests.
- To send you technical notices, updates, security alerts, and administrative messages.
- To detect, investigate, and prevent fraudulent transactions and other illegal activities.
- To comply with applicable laws and regulations.
- To enforce our Terms of Service and other agreements.
3. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We may share information in the following circumstances:
A. With Service Providers
We share information with third-party vendors and service providers who perform services on our behalf, such as data analytics, email delivery, hosting, customer service, and marketing assistance. These parties are contractually obligated to protect your information and may not use it for their own purposes. Our service providers may include vendors that support payment processing, authentication, push notifications, crash reporting, cloud hosting and storage, product analytics, mapping and geocoding, email delivery, customer service, security, fraud prevention, and other functions necessary to operate and improve the Platform.
B. With Activity Providers
We share User location information, child ages and interests with Providers only in anonymized, aggregated, city-level form — for example, showing a Provider how many interested families are located in a given city. Providers never receive a User’s precise location or home address.
C. Sponsored and Featured Listings
Providers may pay for Growth, Premium, Boost, or other features that affect the ranking or placement of their activities on the Platform. Each appearance whose ranking or placement is influenced by payment is clearly labeled “Sponsored” on the listing itself. While Providers pay for visibility, we do not share your personal information with Providers as a result of their advertising or sponsorship.
D. Business Transfers
If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of our assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you via email and/or prominent notice on the Platform if any such transfer results in a material change to this Privacy Policy.
E. Legal Compliance and Protection
We may disclose your information if required to do so by law, or if we believe in good faith that such disclosure is necessary to: (i) comply with applicable law or legal process; (ii) protect and defend the rights, property, or safety of Junebug, our users, or the public; or (iii) prevent or investigate possible wrongdoing.
4. Location Information
We use your location to surface activities near you, personalize recommendations, deliver location-relevant content and promotions, display maps, and sort results by distance.
When you choose to use device location, the mobile app generally requests approximate or medium location accuracy, subject to your device settings. Coordinates used only to perform a one-time search or display a map are discarded after the applicable request and are not saved to your account. If you choose to save a home location, we retain the address and associated coordinate to provide nearby and distance-based features, subject to the retention periods described in Section 7.
We do not collect device location in the background or knowingly collect device location directly from children. When our app accesses your device location, your device’s own operating-system location indicator will appear, consistent with iOS and Android system behavior. You may revoke location permissions at any time through your device settings; however, this may limit certain Platform features. You may instead enter a ZIP code or select a location on a map. We do not derive your location from your IP address.
For Sponsored placement, we convert location to a coarse, city-level geographic area before determining the eligibility, selection, ranking, or ordering of Sponsored listings. The underlying device location and saved-home coordinate are not used for those Sponsored-placement decisions.
We do not sell location information. We may provide Providers with anonymized, aggregated, city-level information about where interested families are located. Providers never receive a Parent’s individual location, saved home address, or precise coordinate.
If our use of location information changes, we will update this Privacy Policy and provide notice.
5. Marketing and Promotional Communications
By creating an account, you agree to receive marketing communications from Junebug, including:
- Promotional emails about activities, events, and deals near you
- In-app notifications and personalized content recommendations
- Push notifications (if enabled on your device)
You may opt out of promotional emails at any time by clicking the “Unsubscribe” link in any such email or by updating your notification preferences in the Platform settings. Please note that even if you opt out of marketing messages, we may still send you transactional and account-related communications.
6. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
We and our service providers use cookies, pixels, web beacons, tracked links, and similar technologies on our website and in electronic communications to operate and secure the Platform, remember preferences, understand website usage, deliver and measure communications, and support embedded forms.
The Junebug mobile application does not use browser cookies, mobile advertising identifiers, or an on-device product-analytics SDK. Selected app-usage events are transmitted from Junebug’s server to a third-party product-analytics provider using an internal Junebug account identifier. We do not send provider names, email addresses, phone numbers, child-profile information, raw search text, IP addresses, device identifiers, advertising identifiers, or location information, and IP-based geolocation is disabled.
We also use third-party service providers for authentication, push notifications, and crash reporting. Crash-reporting services may process diagnostic information when the mobile application experiences an error or crash, and push-notification services use a device token to deliver notifications. These services are not used by Junebug for advertising.
Types of cookies and similar technologies we use include:
- Essential and functional technologies: Used for website security, authentication, preferences, form functionality, and other features necessary to operate the Platform.
- Analytics technologies: We use cookies and similar technologies to help us understand how visitors interact with our website, including pages visited, website interactions, referring pages, and browser and device information. We use this information to evaluate website usage and improve the Platform.
- Communications technologies: Our email and customer-communications service providers may use pixels, tracked links, and similar technologies to help deliver communications and measure whether messages are delivered, opened, or clicked and how recipients interact with those communications.
- Embedded forms: Forms embedded on our website may use cookies or similar technologies for functionality, security, analytics, and abuse prevention. The form provider processes the information you choose to submit through the form on our behalf.
You may control cookies through your browser settings and through any cookie-preference controls we make available. You may also opt out of Google Analytics by using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. Disabling certain cookies may affect the functionality of the website or certain Platform features.
7. Data Retention
We retain personal information for the period reasonably necessary for each purpose for which it was collected, and then delete or de-identify it.
- User and Provider account information, child profiles, saved home information, and other account content are retained while the account is active and deleted or irreversibly de-identified from active systems within 30 days after account closure; residual backup copies are deleted through the normal backup cycle within 90 days.
- One-time search and map coordinates are discarded after the request. A saved home coordinate is retained while the account is active and deleted within 30 days after account closure.
- Account-linked analytics are retained for up to 24 months on a rolling basis and deleted or irreversibly de-identified within 30 days after account closure.
- Provider-verification IP and user-agent records are retained for 12 months; ordinary server logs containing IP addresses are generally retained for 30 days.
- Recently viewed activities are retained for 30 days; read notifications, processed Stripe webhook events, and inactive push tokens are retained for up to 90 days.
- Listing-claim verification documents are deleted within 30 days after the verification decision, except documents that must remain current, which may be retained until expiration or replacement plus 30 days. Billing and transaction records may be retained for seven years, and privacy-request records for 24 months. Specific records may be retained longer where required by law or reasonably necessary for fraud prevention, safety, disputes, legal process, or preservation obligations.
8. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on your location, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information:
- Access: You may request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Correction: You may update or correct inaccurate information in your account settings or by contacting us.
- Deletion: You may request that we delete your personal data by contacting our support team at support@junebugfamily.com. We will process your request within 30 days, subject to any legal obligations.
- Opt-Out of Marketing: You may opt out of promotional communications as described in Section 5.
- Data Portability: You may request a copy of your data in a portable format.
- Withdrawal of Consent: Where processing is based on your consent, you may withdraw it at any time without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing.
California Residents — Your California Privacy Rights
If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), including:
- The right to know what personal information we collect, use, disclose, and sell (we do not sell personal information)
- The right to delete your personal information
- The right to correct inaccurate personal information
- The right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information (we do not sell personal information)
- The right to limit use of sensitive personal information (which includes categories we collect such as your precise GPS location, treated as sensitive personal information under applicable law). We collect precise geolocation only when you explicitly provide it and use it only to deliver the services you request. We do not use precise geolocation to determine the eligibility, selection, ranking, or ordering of sponsored listings; those decisions use only a coarse geographic area. We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes that would require us to offer a right to limit under the CCPA/CPRA.
- The right to non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights
To exercise your California privacy rights, contact us at support@junebugfamily.com. We will verify your identity before processing your request.
9. Children’s Privacy (COPPA)
Junebug provides a platform for Users to find activities for children. Accounts may be created only by adults (18 or older), and children are not permitted to use the Platform.
We collect child information (name, date of birth, and interests) only from Users to personalize the experience. Users have the right to review, delete, or refuse further collection of their child’s data by contacting support@junebugfamily.com.
If we become aware that we have inadvertently received personal information from a child under 13 without verifiable parental consent, we will delete such information promptly. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13 without proper consent, please contact us immediately at support@junebugfamily.com. For information about how we prevent and respond to child safety violations on the platform, see our Child Safety Policy.
10. Security
If a breach compromises your personal information, we will notify you without unreasonable delay and in any event within 30 calendar days of discovering or being notified of the breach, as required by California Civil Code § 1798.82. If a breach affects more than 500 California residents, we will submit a sample notice to the California Attorney General within 15 calendar days.
We implement commercially reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.
For further detail on our security program and breach-response process, see our Security & Data Breach Notification Statement.
11. Third-Party Links and Services
The Platform may contain links to third-party websites, applications, and services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third parties, and this Privacy Policy does not apply to them. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party services you access through the Platform.
12. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by updating the “Effective Date” above and, where appropriate, by sending you an email notification or displaying a prominent notice on the Platform. If we make material changes to how we process your personal information, we will notify you by email or by posting a prominent notice on the Platform prior to the change becoming effective. Your continued use of the Platform after the effective date of such changes will be subject to the updated policy, provided that for any material changes that are incompatible with the purposes for which your data was originally collected, we will obtain your affirmative consent as required by California law.
